The theme for the #Romancestagram hashtag over on Instagram this month is “Romance Retellings.” I have to say, this is one of my favorite themes so far, both as a reader and a writer.
Every month as the themes are announced, I scan to see if I have any books or favorite reads to share, and usually I have one or two, but this month is an embarrassment of riches. Or should I just confess–like most romance authors, I simply love retelling a classic

As of this post, you will find the ebook of Brazen Angel free. Everywhere. Took some doing, but given that this is Brazen Angel’s 20th anniversary
, I thought it would be fun to give back some love.
After all this book, and all of you, started all of this.
The cool part of Brazen Angel has as much to do about the back story of how it was published, as it does the adventures of Sophia and Giles. But seriously
, have your read, My Favorite Hero? If not, go ahead and click … Read more »

So who said the following?
“A few minutes ago you couldn’t wait to leave and now you want to stay?”
“That was before I killed a man,” she offered, coming up with the only excuse she could other than the truth.
“You didn’t kill anyone. You only winged him.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes.”
She glanced back up the stairs

That just happens to be Olivia Sutton and Robert Danvers … Read more »

Did you guess that it was Lady Hermione Marlowe and her mother, Lady Walbrook, talking in this exchange?
“…and now that he is inclined to marry—“
“I don’t think the earl has any intention of—“
“Of course he intends to marry. He made his bow at Almack’s.”
Which of course every matron in London knew was code for: I wish to marry your daughter immediately.
If you did–good for you! If not, I tried my hardest to make it a bit of a stumper.
You can read the excerpt from TEMPTED BY THE NIGHT or order your own copy for … Read more »

So who said the following:
“You lied,” she said, going toe-to-toe with the man before her. “You told me he still loved me, wanted me.” She glanced over her shoulder and shuddered at the sight of him. “What he wants is a good bath and his ration of rum tossed overboard.”
This one, at least to me, was pretty easy and obvious. It has to be Lady Philippa, or as I always call her, Pippin, talking about her beloved Dash, after finding him all those years later. I absolutely adore this book, Memoirs of a Scandalous Red Dress

So who said the following:
“Have you any idea of the danger you could find here? Of the nature of men?”
She plucked herself free. “I’m well aware of the nature of men. I wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t.”
As much as it sounds like Roselie Stratton from Six Impossible Things, and most definitely like my favorite headstrong runaway daughter of a duke, Lady Arabella Tremont from Mad About the Major, this bit comes from a exchange between that gentleman pirate, Captain Colin Danvers, and the mysterious woman he meets and takes home from the Cyprian Ball … Read more »

I feel like this week I have to up my game, because you guys are rocking this #ThrowbackThursday challenge. I’ve dug deep this week and now it is up to you to figure out: Who Said It?
“Have you any idea of the danger you could find here? Of the nature of men?”
She plucked herself free. “I’m well aware of the nature of men. I wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t.”

Is it:
1) Lady Arabella from Mad About the Major
2) Roselie Stratton from Six Impossible Things
3) Georgie from One Night of Passion
Make your best guess … Read more »

Countdown to 20
Sometimes books just belong together, and these three, HOW I MET MY COUNTESS #13, MAD ABOUT THE DUKE #14, LORD LANGLEY IS BACK IN TOWN #15
, isn’t so much three separate stories but one large bit of inspiration, connected by a web of links to so many of my other books that at times it made my head swim, and at their heart, these three books are about finding friendship in the most unlikely of places.
Inspiration
As I was writing Love Letters from a Duke, I had come up with a detailed family … Read more »

Countdown to 20
I cannot do my 11th Avon romance, Confessions of a Little Black Gown without pairing it with its back-to-back partner, my 12th Avon romance, Memoirs of a Scandalous Red Dress. I wrote these books in about nine months total without any interruption so they could be published back to back. It wasn’t easy
, but the stories are so intertwined that is was the best way to write them.
Yet these stories couldn’t be more different. Confessions of a Little Black Gown takes place over the fortnight of a house party, while Memoirs… Read more »

So after dishing yesterday about the covers I, u-hum, don’t like, I get to rave and rave about this one. I nearly swooned when I saw the artwork for TEMPTED BY THE NIGHT. In fact, the next thing I did was contact the artist, Jon Paul, and beg him to let me buy it for my office.
It hangs there to this day. What I love about the full artwork that you don’t really see on the cover of the book are all the wonderful details of this night scene. The carriage, the shadowy street. … Read more »
