Desperately Seeking My Mojo, Sort Of

Somewhere in the last few weeks, I’ve lost my knitting mojo. This has not happened to me in years. Like probably lots of years. But I haven’t picked up my needles for a week and I can’t seem to find the mojo to get motivated to finish the projects I have patiently waiting for me.

I would be worried if this hadn’t happened before. It used to be that I would knit from September to about the end of May and then pack it all up, garden, play and enjoy the long summer days that are a Seattle staple. I … Read more »

Five Things about Debra Mullins

Want to know a little more about one of my fellow Avon authors? Here are five things you might not know about Debra Mullins:

1) First memory: Putting salt in the sugar bowl. I was about two or three, and my dad took his tea with a LOT of sugar… You can guess the rest.

2) If you could go on a date with one of your heroes, which one and why? Lucien DuFeron from Three Nights… He’s a self-made man in a time when that was looked down upon, having to fight the taint of illegitimacy while at the … Read more »

Found!

For all of you who were worried about the quality of my house elves, worry no more. The little imps produced my lost shoe! I was about to order another pair from Zappos when the missing foot dropped. So to say.

Hurrah! Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.… Read more »

Five Things about Stefanie Sloane

Meet debut author, Stefanie Sloane, who won’t be a debut author for very long since she has three books coming out in the next three months. Yes, you heard me correctly three wonderful Regency historical romances, one after another. And you get to meet her first! (BTW, the first one, The Devil in Disguise is out now!)

So, without further ado, here are Five Things about Stefanie Sloane:

Favorite indulgence: Cake. Any kind of cake, though I do love an old-fashioned, run of the mill, Grandma-type fudge chocolate cake.

If you could go on a date with one of your Read more »

Five Things About: Laura Lee Guhrke

The cool part about being an author is that you get to meet lots of other authors. So I thought I would share the fun with all of you and asked a bunch of my author buddies to share something about themselves that you might not know.

Here is the first in a series of Five Fun Things . . . . about Laura Lee Guhrke:

1) The last book you read: Water for Elephants, by Sara Gruen

2) Favorite place to shop online: Amazon. Where else? They have books.

3) If you could go on a date Read more »

Making Progress

Here I told you all that I would get another blog written last week and here it is Friday of this week. Sheesh. Um. Wow. I’ve been writing? Does that work? I actually have been writing. Head down, working on the next book. And I’ve come to the realization that getting a book done is like cleaning the kitchen. It gets done one thing at a time.

Or, in the case of a book, one page at a time.

There are nights when I drag my tired carcass into the kitchen and wonder who made the mess cooking dinner (answer: … Read more »

Letting Go

I recently picked up an issue of Oprah’s magazine. One of the recent ones on clutter and organizing. Sadly, this is always topical in my house. We’ve been doing a lot of that lately–cleaning out closets, whole rooms and my husband has been on a rampage to Get Rid of the Junk. It isn’t like our house is ready for an episode of Hoarders, but we live in a small house and now that boys have gotten bigger, it has gotten a lot smaller. So being creative with the space is a necessity.

But there are sections of the … Read more »

Since It's Valentine's Day. . .

Might as well trot out the romance writers. Every year it is the same thing, suddenly the media finds us interesting, they want our thoughts, our opinions on love, romance and of course, the big V-Day. Well I say, Ba-humbug!

Okay, so I am a little cynical about this holiday that has been foisted off on me just because of my chosen profession. But really, if I held the secret to everlasting love and how to make the perfectly romantic night, do you think I would share it? Because then everyone would be doing it and then it would be … Read more »

And a Happy New Year!

My friend Jenifer posted something on my Facebook Fan page the other day that really got me thinking–I mean really thinking and mulling and plotting and planning. She said: …I make sure I knit a lot on New Years day because “they say” that whatever you do on NYDay you will be doing all year.

What a cool notion! Ever since she posted that, I’ve been rethinking January 1st in all kinds of different ways. What do I want to be doing in 2011? There are any number of areas in my life I would love to focus on in … Read more »

London Shops

London has always been a destination for shoppers and some of those shops have been around for decades, some even centuries. And the best part of it? Window shopping is free.

If you are going to indulge in some really high end window shopping, then start on Jermyn Street, where the wealthy have shopped for over 300 years. Where you can still get good walking sticks:

Get your feet shod with some custom boots:

Or if you are feeling a bit peckish, pick up some cheese:

And while you are in the neighborhood, drop by for some snacks and groceries … Read more »
