Why Wyoming?

Since I am getting this question a lot lately, I’ve decided to start talking about what I’m working on–since it is not a romance. Not per se. It is more of a historical fiction. And a quirky one at that. The story is set at the turn of the century (1907, thereabout) in a very fictional mining town in Wyoming.

Yes, that is a bit of a departure from Regency England. Okay, make that a HUGE departure from Regency England.

But I had to write this book. This story. It has been rattling inside my head for about 7 years, … Read more »

Who Said It Answered

So who said the following?

“A few minutes ago you couldn’t wait to leave and now you want to stay?”
“That was before I killed a man,” she offered, coming up with the only excuse she could other than the truth.
“You didn’t kill anyone. You only winged him.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes.”
She glanced back up the stairs

Who Said It Revealed

Did you guess that it was Lady Hermione Marlowe and her mother, Lady Walbrook, talking in this exchange?

“…and now that he is inclined to marry—“
“I don’t think the earl has any intention of—“
“Of course he intends to marry. He made his bow at Almack’s.”
Which of course every matron in London knew was code for: I wish to marry your daughter immediately.

If you did–good for you! If not, I tried my hardest to make it a bit of a stumper. Tempted by the Night

Did You Guess Who Said It?

So who said the following:

“You lied,” she said, going toe-to-toe with the man before her. “You told me he still loved me, wanted me.” She glanced over her shoulder and shuddered at the sight of him. “What he wants is a good bath and his ration of rum tossed overboard.”

This one, at least to me, was pretty easy and obvious. It has to be Lady Philippa, Memoirs of a Scandalous Red Dressor as I always call her, Pippin, talking about her beloved Dash, after finding him all those years later. I absolutely adore this book, Memoirs of a Scandalous Red Dress

Answer to Yesterday’s “Who Said It?”

So who said the following:

“Have you any idea of the danger you could find here? Of the nature of men?”
She plucked herself free. “I’m well aware of the nature of men. I wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t.”

As much as it sounds like Roselie Stratton from Six Impossible Things, and most definitely like my favorite headstrong runaway daughter of a duke, Lady Arabella Tremont from Mad About the Major, this bit comes from a exchange between that gentleman pirate, Captain Colin Danvers, and the mysterious woman he meets and takes home from the Cyprian Ball … Read more »
