Five Things with Shana Galen

Bestselling author Shana Galen is visiting the blog today. She writes fast-paced, adventurous Regency romances, the newest release being The Viscount of Vice. Welcome, Shana!

Color Shana Galen L-R-21181) Did you have a nickname growing up? My real name is Shane, so my family often called me Shaney. In middle school, I wore pink all the time, and my friends called me Pinky. In high school, I turned Goth. That was the end of Pinky.

2) What’s your strongest/most productive writing habit? It’s definitely writing early and first thing in the morning. I can’t do this everyday because I have to get my daughter to school, but on Saturday mornings I go to Starbucks at 5:30 and work for 5 or 6 hours. I get so much done and then I have the rest of the day to relax.Viscount of Vice-300

3)If you were not writing, what job would you have? I’d be an animal cop. I would like to rescue abused and neglected animals and slap the bad owners with tickets, fines, and send them to jail.

4) If you could time travel, what time period would you most like to visit? I’d definitely visit the Regency. I write about it all the time and sometimes I feel like I live there in my head. I can’t imagine how amazing it would be to meet some of the people who really lived then.

5) What is the most embarrassing song/app on your ipod. I have about a dozen songs from Barbie movies. My daughter loves them. Confession: they are pretty catchy. On any given day you might catch me with the sunroof open singing along to Princess and the Pop Star.

So you were goth in HS? I never would have believed that…but even those kids turn out pretty good! LOL My daughter is a good example of that as are you! But seriously…Barbie songs on your iPod? That’s too much sugar for me! That’s why authors with little kids are like Jeckle and Hyde! I’ll let you think on that one for a while! (and remember, sarcasm is one of my specialty languages!)

I was Goth–the black lipstick and everything. I just didn’t want to be like everyone else. I’m telling you, Karen, once a Barbie song gets into your brain, you cannot get it out!

Oh, that’s another catchy tune. I have a song about Baileywick on my iPhone, and we dance to it often. Lots of twirling.

Pink I can see, Goth not so much. Hope you do well with your new release and the other one coming up. They are both wonderful books!

You never know, do you, Vicky? I do love fashion, but I tend to wear my Chuck Taylors and dress in all black when it comes to my own style.

Barbie songs?? LOL I love it. You are an awesome mom!! My granddaughter has never been a big fan of the Barbie stuff. Dolls or movies. She likes having some of them. But she never really plays with them.
    Thanks for sharing, Shana!

Mine doesn’t really play with them either! She just likes to listen to the music and dance around. Lately in between Barbie songs, we’ve been listening to the audio books of The Chronicles of Narnia.
