Countdown to 20
Inspiration comes from every facet of my life. The story behind IT TAKES A HERO (my 5th Avon Romance) came during a family dinner, while listening to my husband’s siblings teasing his unmarried sister about their upcoming visit to Lisdoonvarna in Ireland–an infamous village known for matchmaking.
Being a romance writer, what is not to love about a village with a long standing tradition of making happy endings? I was enchanted and story ideas started to bubble around. I just needed a hero and had the perfect one waiting in the wings. The one remaining unmarried Danvers … Read more »

Countdown to 20
I failed to mention in my last post
, (about my 3rd Avon Romance, One Night of Passion) that one of my favorite heroes of all time came to life while writing Colin and Georgie’s story. And if you’ve read these books you know I am talking about Temple. Or as he is formally known, the Marquis of Templeton.
I’ll never forget that moment. I had written the scene with Colin Danvers being tossed out on his ear by his betrothed, Lady Diana (who has just called off their wedding) and … Read more »

Countdown to 20
For my third Avon Romance in this countdown, I came up with Three Fun Facts You Might Not Know About ONE NIGHT OF PASSION.
Fun Fact #1
ONE NIGHT OF PASSION is my outlandish Regency take on Cinderella, so when Avon asked me to come up with a tag line for the book

, I couldn’t resist being a bit wicked, coming back with:
“Sometimes Cinderella loses more than just her shoe …”
Honestly, I never thought they would ever use it. I was just being snarky. But they did, and it is … Read more »

Countdown to 20
I had no intention of sitting down to write a series when I started ONCE TEMPTED. Yet, as stories often do, the characters blossomed before me and it was the beginning of my love affair with the Danvers family that continues today.
ONCE TEMPTED opens with the death of Orlando Danvers, the youngest of the Danvers brothers. Never have I regretted killing off a character more than shooting Orlando through the heart. Truly, don’t write me, there is no precedent-setting three day Regency operation that will bring him back. And believe me, a lot of you … Read more »

Countdown to 20
I can’t believe my 20th Avon Romance, THE KNAVE OF HEARTS, is about to arrive! To celebrate this amazing run, I thought it would be fun to countdown all 20 books, starting with my first Avon Romance, NO MARRIAGE OF CONVENIENCE.
This book is unique in that it started out as an idea for a follow up book to Brazen trilogy which I had written for Dell Books. But when I was offered the chance to write for Avon (which had been my dream all along) I jumped to write for the house that published … Read more »

In my continuing #TBT look at my Bachelor Chronicles series (in advance of the June 2nd publication of Mad About the Major), today’s smack down is more of a cover standoff: Confessions of a Little Black Dress v. Memoirs of a Scandalous Red Dress.
A little background might be in order–after writing Love Letters from a Duke, Avon asked me to come up with a title that had the same sort of communication theme. I absolutely wracked my brain trying to find a “Letters” sort of title for Tally’s book. And then, driving down the highway one … Read more »

Keeping up with my #TBT retrospective of The Bachelor Chronicles in preparation for the release of Mad About the Major, I’ve always found it interesting how divided readers can be about their deep and abiding affection for either This Rake of Mine or Love Letters from a Duke, the 2nd and 3rd installments in the Bachelor Chronicles series.
I call it Rake v. Love Letters.
Personally I think it really divides this way:
Team Mad Jack v. Team FelicityNow what isn’t to love about Mad Jack Tremont? He’s a rake

With Mad About the Major only a few weeks away from arriving on an ereader near you, I thought I would look back at the Bachelor Chronicles–starting with the first book, Something About Emmaline.
If you’ve never read this one, I have to say: what are you waiting for? Emmaline is one of my most favorite heroines–I adore how they first meet–Alex arriving at his London town house to find it in the throes of being redecorated and a woman in his bed. A woman who claims to be his wife:
“Yes, thank you,” she replied. “When my

People always say this is one of their favorites–with Felicity Langley being one of my most beloved heroines. Yet her story would not have been told without some help. So on this Throwback Thursday, let me introduce you to some of the books that helped me write Love Letters from a Duke:
The London Encyclopedia
, ed. by Ben Weinreb and Christopher Hibbert. This is one of my favorite books to have within reach while I am writing a book set in London.
Names through the Ages, by Teresa Norman. I love the way this book divides names … Read more »
